What a thing for £25k. Faster, more exotic and massively more rare than its contemporary 911 or indeed anything that sits either side of it. Deserves to be bought and used rather than tucked away forever.

Oh to have an infinite size garage.

Who's responsible for designing that C-pilllar? From wiki:

"At the car's unveiling, Alejandro de Tomaso declared a very limited production run of 250 examples. In the end, only 221 units were sold"

"the car was named after the wind"

Back in the day when i was a teen, a Bi-turbo was my dream car when they were new. Remember going on to their motor show stand and sitting in one plus one remember one rumbling around the back streets of York .

But even I’ve got to say that is not a good looking version … rare doesn’t mean desirable

Clearly I’m in a minority, because it’s worth less than one of Jason’s watches, but I think it’s a deeply elegant thing.

The proportions and volumes are so right. The skinny pillars of the glasshouse and how far back you sit within it must make it really special to look out of.

Some details are naff - the door handle is oddly unintegrated, the front grill is fussy and old-fashioned for a late-80s car etc. But have a look at it in profile against the 3-times-as-expensive De Tomaso Longchamp or Ferrari 308, 400, V8 Vantage, Lotus E-something (or any other glam 2+2 of the 70s and 80s I can think of) and I’d say it makes those cars look overhigh and overweight, particularly at the rear, like they’re being dragged up and back by the wind where the Maserati is slicing forward into it.

I want it.

When selling: 'rare'.

When buying: 'unpopular when new'.

You'd better move fast if he's paying £25k to take it off his hands

And clearly it's previous owners have been too embarrassed to be seen out in it, hence the low mileage.

I think that was restored at the place near us in Coventry. There can’t be too many in that colour. I had a biturbo, 2ltr, great fun and certainly better with Megasquirt EFI and two inter coolers !! Sold it when I saw the light and bought the 911
