Finally got the roof lining out., good news as not rust showing. Sound deadening came unstuck but looks good!

Can someone advise?
I’ve noticed both of my inner sills have what looks like two rivet heads positioned along the side. 3 sets spaced evenly along the inner sill?

Is this factory and what is the use?….. thanks

I’d need to double check the position but think they are the fixings for the clamps that hold the heater tubes inside the sill.

yes that must be it Gary,
Im sure i may have another bracket as i remember seeing three sets on rivets. really appreciate your help.

i put a boroscope inside one of the holes on the sills and it dont look too bad to be honest.

Yes there are three brackets, just out of shot above. Found a better blurry pic!

Good news on the sills, it can be a bit traumatic in there, particularly around the seat mounting brackets.

well, black and white screen on the boroscope but i hope all is ok, my car finally will go to the body shop end of the month to start the body resto.
will be done in stages and will give me some space to start cleaning parts. the car didnt give me too many nasty surprises so hope it will be straight forward to a skill worker.

im thinking of trying to use my original roof lining as i managed to unpick without spliting it. going to clean it and see what happens.
got to start marking all the holes that need welding. Ive found so many in strange places. definately on top of the scuttle panel near the wipers.
someone said to small for pull switches and possibly a 60s sprayer kit which ive seen on some privateering cars.

all good fun finding stuff. thanks Gary.

Managed to rescue the K wing bolts and most of the door hinge bolts. Had a friend re-coat for a favour.

I noticed on mine that the self-tappers tend to lose a bit of thread so you may need to replace a few, or at lease use them in spots where they tighten on the good part of the thread.

Thanks Rob, I have a set of repros if i get stuck. also got an orginal set of door hinge bolts to back me up!

Now starting to reassemble loosely to give to body shop. The doors go on weekend. Still a bit to do though.

Does anyone know if there are some kind of spacer washer which goes between the engine lid and the hinge?

If yes, what are they made out of?

I just had penny washers fitted previously….. any ideas as I’m collecting fixings/ fittings at the moment

Mine had a stack of penny washers when I bought it, can’t believe they were original though!

I spent some time ‘massaging’ the shape of the hinges when I rebuilt the shell to get the (new) lid to fit without them. Barry then finished the profile when he welded the quarters in their final position.

It’s bit of a fight as they are quite robust, but worth it to just be able to bolt it on.
