LHD.

I can only think the vents were something to do with the auxiliary heater in the smugglers box

Post by leedurrant73 »

Ok, strange. I have some drill holes in the smugglers box but unsure what they were for?

Two small and one bigger hole

Thanks Lee

Incredible. Learn something new everyday.
What are the louvres for? Why don't RHD's need them?

I think as Gary said earlier, led could have the aux heater fired in the smugglers box and vents needed for the petrol fireded heater.
Rhd cars never had the box, pedals needed the space.
Seems to me a fussy mod to do by the factory but water can ingress through the vents and fill the pedal box assembly.
Happens on my lad converted car which still has the vents open.

Wonder why the Factory didn't just use seam sealer (or something similar) ...

Indeed, the spot welds look very tacked on to me, an after thought?

I'd say this is air con based upon the pipes etc. I believe it's in a 1967 911R. Maybe this uses those holes?

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Resto thread for 119100008 69t

Post by leedurrant73 »

Hello,

I’m after some advice, I’ve been told a 69t should be black inside the engine compartment and front boot area.

The problem I have is when I’ve scratched the black paint I find the original light ivory colour underneath?

The car is early October build and one of the first batch RHD cars for 69MY.

Could it been prayed body colour?

Lee - the black paint under the bonnet & in the engine compartment was added over the top of the body colour.

I seem to remember it was brush-painted originally & after a few years of 'wear & tear' the body colour started to show through in certain areas ...
