Head works

Post by rft218 »

Hi All,

Does anyone have any recommendations on someone to do a porting and 3 angle valve seat job for some type 4 head. I have used stateside in the past but he seems to only want to sell some new heads as the basis for the work and there would not be much change from £2.5k. Its for a type 4 engined beetle trials car so do want to go too mad on valve sizes to keep the torque up.

Cheers

If you're in Cornwall, go to Nigel Allen. You must know him as he trials a Beetle, too... He's out near Newquay airport.

Hi Keith,

Yes thanks, know him well, helped him with a few bits for the 912 and did a lot of set up for it when I had it running on 40s before I went fuel injection. I tend to build my own engines though so didnt know what other experience was out there,

Cheers

Graham Rawlings at Rawspeed - really knowledgeable, old school guy with a ton of VW experience (he builds all the engines for Chesil Speedsters, for example). Also has rolling road... Use him on my 914 and previous cars. Located just off the A38 at Plymouth.
Tel: 01752 656295.
VERY highly recommended. He's my number one choice these days.

If that doesn't work out. AHS in Lutterworth. Mostly Vee Racing engines but work on Type 4s too
