I recon the whole car on a trailer will make in the UK about 25k max.

The rude 3.2 and the special Bainbridge box weigh in at about 10k tops, rolling chassis waiting for an engine (should be a humble Pinto and Hewland box) about 10 to 15.

The car has very real heritage and it's history is totally documented and verified, looks great (lim told) and has been really reliable and unique.

4 years ago an auction house offered me 20k less trailer.

A stock Lola T492 will cost you 35k on the button.

This conversation is just that, but I thought the market for this car would be wider in the USA where autocross is so popular.

I know that you are asking the other Graham, but I reckon a together Sports 2000 Lola in good nick is about £30k. A roller 23k ish?
So sell it as a roller at 23k and sell the engine and box at what 12-15? Proceeds of 38 all in? Probably too ambitious by a little way.

Edited to say posts crossed!

There's no harm in CC although it's not really their thing. It might set a negative precedent if the bidding stays low. A reserve of £35k is too high in my view. Racecarsdirect is the best UK shout. But I think BAT is a fun thing to try with a $99 listing fee, it's certainly an intriguing prospect!

I think you are under valuing it Graham, both as a job lot and in component parts

As an example, try buying a 3.2 engine and box for £10k, let alone in rude health. Most I have seen require a rebuild / ancillaries / exhaust etc for that money.

These things are hard to value.
If there is someone looking then the price will reflect that, and knowing my luck there will be nobody looking!

Racecarsdirect is a great place and well frequented internationally and a perfect platform IF I get to the stage of selling.
or the last 3 years I've questioned carrying on with this car or sell and go hill climbing in the Boxster with zero fuss as you are perfectly aware Wayne.

Covid 2020 has knocked the stuffing out of me and the sport, but the rolling road on Monday I hope will inject something into my spirit.

It would/will be hard to let it go as a few of you know what these cars take to get right.

Graham, I'd look forward to a year where we shake off covid, you get some more oomph from the Lola, you have a great time on the slopes and your mojo gets stronger than ever!

Then have a think at the end of the season.

I know a guy who runs a hillclimb school. Maybe have a word with him and get him to make you see sense. You could enrol on his course and see how you feel after that. Oh, wait... ;)

If you do decide to sell, it'll be bought by a wealthy German dealer who'll get 'somebody' to vouch for the fact it's an ex-werks machine, and then put it up for sale at Essen for £200k. Wouldn't be the first time...

Stick with it Graham, I am sure your Monday rolling road will lift your spirits! We are all missing the competition and meeting people.

I'm in the opposite camp - "everything's for sale as there's always something else out there to buy/try" ...
