A stab into the past: Triumph throttle bodies and other part

I think, back in Oct 2013 I sold a whole kit of parts to fit Triumph throttle bodies to a 911, in particular my 3.2 in the hill climb car.

The kit was quite complete, missing the loom and ecu.

I also think some was sold by the guy who bought it off me but not the 2 Triumph bodies themselves.
I am looking to reserect this approach to efi using the same parts, but wonder if the person on DDK who was selling 'my' kit still has any of it?
I have no idea who bought it, but he just might read this thread.
If so, please could he pm me?

I did a lot of detail porting etc on the bodies, and although I can get salvage parts cheaply now it would be good to get them back.

Was it me?
I sort of recognise all thse bits... but, like you, the project stalled and I sold them on.
For the life of me I can't remember who bought them

I know of a 911 in Sweden that was built post 2013 that runs triumph throttle bodies

Mick, I think it was.
It will be easier to start again. I'm told the Ford 6 pack is old hat now, so this could be the way to move forward.
Thanks for the replies.

Hard bit was ensuring the injector size would deliver enough for the 3.2.

There’s a guy on Impact Bumpers who has done this on an SC in the last two years. Do you want a link to the thread?

Yes please Ian.
My issue at the time was if this system/injectors would feed a 3.2, so 3 litres is getting closer.

Graham, if you want something designed for your 3.2 engine why not go for the Jenvey kit, they are also just down the road from you in Bridgnorth.

https://store.jenvey.co.uk/throttle-bod ... ckpe02-kit

I have recently bought one and it is waiting for lockdown to ease before installation in car. It is ported for your heads although mine has had a little more machined by engine builder. Obviously a cost to it, but may do what you want.

I have probably got some of the ignition parts. EDIS, connector and coil pack. I would highly recommend a phased approach
1) fit the EDIS and ECU (Ignition only) and keep the system otherwise as-is. Only needs a trigger wheel and TPS to give a sensible ignition map. Switch back to the old system just by changing the plug leads.
2) Once you are happy with the ignition map, then look at the Fuelling...
You are welcome to view my install and I can talk you through it (Covid restrictions allowing)
Motorbike Injectors have a really high throughput of fuel, in order to fuel at Flat-out and Max Revs. There is a very short time to inject a lot of fuel. I Have some GSXR600 throttle bodies which I bought (For Imp) but they do a GSXR1000 which is bigger and revs VERY high ! These separate out to individual units, so pinched between a top and bottom plate, custom fuel rail and something to extend the throttle linkage and you have something closer.
What has Al Cosomal (?) on pelican run his triumph kit with ? This is triumph triple based. He must have run on 3.2 by now

Here you are. https://www.impactbumpers.com/forum/ind ... is-to-efi/

As has already been mentioned Phil does appear on here so I am sure he will contribute as necessary.

Thank you all.
Today a local rolling road tuner came to see the car. Many hill climb people as well as road users have used him to good effect.
We had a long chat looking at the Lola.

He was very sceptical about the delivery of the Triumph bodies for the size of engine using the stock injectors.
I need the choke size and the injector cc flow so he can be sure of his assumptions made today. He added that the use of the Triumph bodies would give a very nice road engine, rather different to a hill climb engine.

I will look at the USA link from Ian and see if I can find these details.
He said only 'real' injection units would deliver the goods, ie Jenvey which are superb, there are the PMO units too which are a totally direct swop, just add the Clewitt parts to complete the system.
Both of these solutions are v expensive, and will not give me a good return of bhp/lbft per £.

So, time to put the foot on the football to decide what to do.
This is a Xmas job, or rather an October job when the season finishes, and yet again I ponder if I should carry on in the 'hot seat'. 69 in a few weeks time, getting on.

Today, agreed to:

Swop out the points, condenser and coil for an electronic upgrade and a 1 ohm coil, fit silicon leads, run on the R Road and fine tune. Use the existing Bosch distributor.

I found the last RR sheet Bob did on this engine with the current simple ignition and it gave 264 bhp and 234 lbft @ 4980 rpm

It will be interesting to see what will be the finished result.

Things can never be simple for me, and I now need 2 duff tyres to fit on the back of the car before it goes on the roller. Thwe session will shred the tyres on and they are only 1 season old.
2 new tyres are £600..
2 irons in the fire to find some, one in Birmingham, one in Scotland!

The rears I need are 14" wide so quite easy to come by (historic racer size)

Silly question, but why can you not use standard wheels and tyres, providing they fit over the brake callipers?

The rolling road is measuring your BHP, surely it is not dependant on the width or type of tyre being used, and likewise it is being used to fine tune your ignition at certain revs?

There are no standard wheels with this thing.
The wheels are centre lock etc so all special.
The wear on the tyres on the rollers will be extreme on hill climb slicks, so the need for hard track slicks which I now have sourced for Monday on the 14" wide rims I have.

Here are some pictures of the manifold I’m making and the efi system.

The throttle bodies are what a fenn Lane customer obtained with his dismantled car.

They were bare, but I’ve used triumph internals to build them up. I was going to use these with PMO manifolds, but I’m recasting the TB’s at 80 mm high without the injector boss.

Once I’ve got my new bits, these will be for sale.

Linkage are Weber with a modified pull angle, due to the high butterfly.

Air filters are Weber pattern.

The electronics are Canems, with a locked up distributor.

The crank pulley is machined from billet and anodised black. The trigger wheel is laser cut 36-1, and I have over 20 in stock

They are going on a 1976 911/81 ‘S’ spec ex CIS engine
