Yes, finding parts supply is difficult & timescales are elastic at moment but they seem to be doing their best.

Just playing around with some ideas whilst waiting for the new floor pans.

No KG's were harmed during photography!

I had taken the front hubs to a local machine shop to machine the back plate and TIG weld adaptors for the front Porsche 968 calipers. Unfortunately after 8 weeks they are too busy to complete. I have found another shop, run by a gentleman who specialises in race fabrication work, but only works part time. At least he has agreed to complete the work as its something unusual. Hopefully see them back completed in 3 weeks.

The original plan was to break out the mig and get stuck into completing the body repairs. Business has been good so taking a lot of my time, and my friends had an unexpected gap in their schedule, the KG progress is moving along quicker. A few more discoveries but nothing that cant be fixed.

Price of steel is scary, £90 for some 20mm box, needed for bracing to stop everything moving around;

Todays progress over at the shop

ImageIMG_5919

Floor pan is not welded in yet, so there is a little wave in the panel which will pull down flat during welding;

Must say these are really good panels, thick gauge sheet metal with accurate fitting. Stranger things have happened, but this is the worst side so maybe the other side will go quicker. I cant jinx it if I don't say it out aloud :)

This is good going!
Great to see the 914 shell in slight dis-array, and getting properly fixed. Looks like the body shop are the first people to get the shell sorted, not local repairs as many suffer in the past?
Agree, you had better get ordering or be accused of slackin'!

Keep thee reports going please.

It’s a Karman Ghia not a 914

Maybe I have secret plan to turn the engine around and make it a mid-mount Ghia 914 :wink:

Making progress on what will become the drivers side. So both sides and floor are almost finished :) Again the door gaps and flush finish is excellent.

The next stage is to move forward to replace the head light buckets, head light surrounds and lower panels. The nose cone is being taken off to straight out the inner side bulk heads and then replaced with a new panel. Seems like any thought of wing panels is not happening. Panels just don't seem to be available. Hope my hammer & dolly skills are up to the task!

Not quite what I was intending but may have found a Type 1 1776 long block at a irresistible price, hope to find out more next week
