It now has 74660 miles so a little over 400 miles since 2010? Is the drivers seat ripped or are they ink stains or similar?

Looking at the video, the car has flat six wheels, so it means the car was originally equipped with 14 inch Fuchs and self-levelling suspension. Not a problem but budget for a full set of deep sixes.

Brian Fryar's comments on the car back in 2011 when it was for sale at '2Shores International' in California:

"Yes this 911 is really very nice. I was in the showroom over the weekend and was able to see it again. As nice as this one is ... the Tangerine '70 E that is right next to it totally blew me away. That car is just stunning in person. The documentation is also spectacular. Jurgen bought the orange car from the original owner in OH who had picked it up at the factory. Doesn't get much better than that IMHO."

The 'Jurgen' that Brian referred to is Jurgen Rott the owner of 2Shores.

We are pleased to offer this Stunning Original and Unrestored Five Speed Manual Porsche 911E finished in Tangerine Orange. This Example was first ordered by a Mr Ronald Bayman in Michigan in 1969. Additional Options Specified from Factory included an Electric Antenna and Fog Lights at an additional cost of $8059 these options remain on the car to this day.

Mr Bayman the original owner was a Pilot for the Military and the Car which he collected personally from the Factory in Germany, was flown around the world with him and often ended up in airplane hangers when not being driven. This examples the Stunning originality and condition of the car today.

The car was in Mr Bayman’s personal ownership from new until at least 2010 with continual history right through that period. The original order, delivery notes, owner’s handbook and service books are all present. In 2016 the car was purchased by our Client and kept in a private collection including other special cars in a perfect dry environment.

So looks like the car was then bought by a James Sohl three years prior to the magazine article in March 2020 with 74,000 miles on it - it then goes to Historic Auctions 26/9/20 Lot Number 182, also its been listed at Coys Lot number 136.

The accuracy of most ‘Classic Car Specialists’ really makes you laugh. They want top dollar for providing shoddy details. They even have all the cars documentation to check but can’t be bothered to read it. The original owner was Robert Bayma (not Bayman) and he ordered the car on December 12th and took delivery on January 9th 1970. There is no mention of an electric aerial on the factory invoice or fog lights and the figure of $8059.71 is for tinted windows, a full leather interior, a Frankfurt radio, registration all to include German sales tax and factory pickup.

I seem to remember it was in the 60s. I was following it as there aren't too many orange 2.2s around. Around the same time, another lovely tangerine 2.2t was sold for around 65k.

Other than the interior colour, it seems like a nice honest car. Surprised it didn't sell at Historics actually.

I agree, looks much nicer than the burgandy car that sold on CC for£70k not long ago. I suspect not being able to view the car at a dealers may be delaying some people?

I quite miss my old 911E ......
