Gregg, remember when we found out your car and my car, were both sold after AFN ordered them to JH Bartlett in 1959 and you advised the AFN ref number of 403, well I noticed today my AFN ref is 405. Both were Supers yours red mine blue. The first owner of mine was a 21 year old daughter of a Baronett who lived near Bristol. She only kept it for about a year, I expect her dad bought it for her so much money then.
Our cars must have a connection from the assembly line right through to JH Bartlett.
Your work is looking very nice.

Roy, wow that is amazing.
After all these years we must get them back together, maybe at Classic at the Castle later in the year?

Progress on the 356 is coming along. Plans have had to be flexible to accommodate unforeseen but predictable issues. I am hoping the engine build problems have been largely overcome.
The rest of the panels have been painted and the remaining components prepared for paint and most likely done by know. These have been blocked with 800 grit. The final coat of clear coat should go on early next week and then final flat and polish.

You can see in the picture the front indicator bezels which I believe are a 1 year only design, so very difficult to find chrome replacement. The base metal alloy is not great quality after 60 years so have gone to paint.

I also picked up a set of 165VR15 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 from Longstone tyres yesterday on my way home from a job. I previously run the Michelin XZX which due to the lower speed rating are really only suitable for VW bugs. I believe the Fuchs I run are a slightly wider offset so 165 is the largest that can be fitted.

Gregg,
Great work and of course those Bezels are rare! You are correct as well the material they made them from is crap. Mine were bubbly when I bought the car in the 60's and they still are, no rust of course just bubbly. Does annoy me but that is how they will stay.
It would be nice to put the cars together after 64 years apart, but Gregg for me now its too far the car would get there maybe, but although when working I was doing many thousands of miles driving to customers, now Hedingham is a stretch to far for me in a decade beginning with eight.
It is going to look nice Gregg !

No worries Roy, hopefully we can get them together later this year, once I get some miles under the belt will come to you.
So engine is moving to build up stage after several set backs with parts.

Calibration looks a little out of date, Many years ago I was involved in the art of checking and calibrating measuring equipment, actually they very rarely change or go wrong

Getting finished in time for CLM is still on target.
The plan has been ripped up and done again several times!

Looks awesome. Will you be outlining the two “darts” in the wings with a pinstripe or leaving them as they are?

Thanks for the positive comments guys
There was a lot of talk about the wing darts, we did consider pinstripe in various colours, but thought from a distance you may only see the pinstripe. Also wanted to keep to the original 911 sport classic concept.
