Slowly collecting parts to rebuild the engine, mostly with the great help from Paul at PRS

I guess given the current state of the globe, not surprising there are a lot of parts on back order.

Those heads look very clean. Are they new?

Yes, they are new Willhoit WR heads. These should make a big difference when fitted to the 1720 barrels and pistons, SEX2 cam shaft, etc

Gregg you know in the mid sixties I was looking at 356 cars to buy in the hundred to one hundred pounds region to buy. All I seemed to see were rusty ones so in the end ended up seeing one in 1968 for £440 that seemed okay and it was really, but I had rust soon found that out, but I was able to control it so its still with me.

But the rusty ones I saw some only 10 years old were probably saveable you have a lot on your plate to restore yours. Of course you can get panels but its never easy. You are doing well and I hope it all goes to plan. Its patience and time Gregg.
Keep at it and well done so far!

Its gonna be very nice when done.

Speaking to Mike Smith today and he was saying the Willhoit heads flow better than the originals & unlikely to crack because they take the smaller diameter spark plugs
maverick

John does seem to produce some quality kit with proper Dyno time and figures behind. Just get your wallet ready

Patience and trust.
So the 356 has been with the body shop for quite some time with little recent action. The guys at the shop have just employed a metal beater / fabricator, who will initially work on my car full time. I have seen his work and its excellent, last job was an E Type. So fingers crossed we are back on track and will have some significant progress to report over the coming weeks and months. This was never meant to be a full restoration just a freshen up. Body/Paint/Engine/ Some mechanical etc. I guess that is most of the car then :)

Current situation;

Happy to report positive progress.

I really did not realise the car was that bad. I know, age old story, it should not be a surprise but oh the pain.

So body shop guys kindly took regular pics and sent over whole collection on progress. It may take a while to work out some of the pics.

Actually quite jealous, would love to work on the car 10 hours a day, day after day.

Starting to dream about final colours again.

You'll need the extra performance you're building into the engine to push all that extra new metal around.
It is looking good though.

Hi Karl,

Working on the theory that rust is heavier than fresh metal should be ok
