Newbie aka a Returnee 73 911 Historic Rally Car & 987 Spyder

Post by MACCA_STU »

Hello DDK,

Greeting from wild and windy RAF LINCOLNSHIRE.

Main vice is a 73 2.4T LHD 911 Viper Green Historic Rally Car ive had privilege to own since 2007.

Previous winner of PCGB Speed Championship in 2000 in the hands of Paul Carle or Clare?

Then Kenny McKeown added some Tuthill parts and protection and campaigned it in HERO Regularity type events at home and abroad to great success.

I purchased it in 2007 and it was soon back in Rennspeed workshop where Ben stripped and prepped it for Gravel Forest Rallying.
Premier Stages, Chatsworth Rally Show and various Race Rally Retro and Donington Historic Forays with Rallying with GroupB ensued.

Since 2015 it’s barely turned a wheel so now needs recommissioned to it’s former glory.

Looking forward to delving deeper into DDK.

Yours aye,

Welcome! I remember the car well, it was beautiful when Paul Clare used to compete in the Speed Championship with it. I seem to remember that it had been refurbished in one of Her Majesty's Prisons ............
Paul used to work with Butty in Porsch-Apart (now 911 Apart)

Welcome! I like JW remember Paul Clare and his Viper Green 911. I seem to recall that it got in some practice for rallying when it was launched over the "Mole Hill" at Curborough Sprint Course during his ownership, unfortunately I don't think I have the pictures!
I also live in Lincolnshire.

Welcome! Remember the car well, would love to see how it looks today.

I am also local, and did a few sprints at RAF Barkston Heath many years ago with the RAF MSA. Are you going to ‘play’ with the car again, or convert back to road use?

All the best

Have you put it up for sale?

I can see from the pics that a mutual friend of us hillclimbers, Karl Lupton has been fettling the car too!

If this is your car, there are several of us within a 30mile radius of you. Not that it matters, we can’t meet up after midnight anyway!
