Jenks was wrong about other things too Dave....
I have a 911, 914 and 924 - all different- all good!
Much more so than just a bunch of 911s............

Jenks liked the 924, saying that it was built to Porsche quality standards.

It wasn't powered by the old flat four Porsche engine but the new (for MY '68) VW flat four engine.

Sounds like he indulged in some of that ‘wacky baccy’ of the swinging sixties himself?

He’s right about the driving position. The steering wheel is 50mm to the right of the driver’s seat centre. If you naturally let your feet rest in the footwell, your right foot is on the clutch!

This is because the front end is from the 911, yet the car is wider and the seats further apart. Given that the rear suspension is unique to the 914, it seems odd to take the front from the 911. Seems like they ran out of money or time?

It’s bothered me so much I’m actually moving the steering column and the pedals on mine! Interestingly, there are features on the bulkhead that suggest that the intent was to position the wheel directly in front of the driver.

Ever wondered why you don't clatter your left elbow on the door pocket?
