RST parked in East Anglia

Post by john ruston »

An American friend of mine left a RST with us waiting for it to be shipped back to States
It has HTP’s and UK V5. Not brilliant but not bad
Spoke to him yesterday and he said if anyone wants it this side of pond he would consider selling it or PX a Pre War something or decent 356
Think it’s going to be in the 250 k band but that’s up to him
Ideal rally/race car basis

Obviously the devil is in the detail with these cars but with a shiny garage trinket like this making £315k : https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/eve ... rs-touring it’s totally conceivable that a sound, ‘properly enjoyed’ car would be around £200k.

If I had the energy to sell my various average cars and pool the resources I’d be talking to John’s man. If all is well with the car’s provenance it could be a corking way of enjoying something spectacular but not too precious and selling it for something usefully more in years to come.

Looking as if the rs market is continuing to fall whereas the wider classic car market is for most part steady or with young timers on the rise!!

Seems the car has found a home as the owner has had an offer and now hope we can have our parking space back!
It’s cheap!

Well the cars still here! Someone could use it as race/rally car.
Seems the French thing is screwed up due to import duty snd COVID in France
Owner not comfortable with a bid he had from UK
If nothing else I know more about RST’s than
I did before despite owning three over the years
Think it should have been described like a decent rep with HTP’s and RST chassis number on V5
If I was guessing think it should be about 175/180 k as it would cost about 300 k to build similar car
What do I know?
This information came from one of the great and good in the Porsche world who once bought the car
Funny that someone spent 300 k on in the recent past!
Going to store it in local garage

Tough statement without foundation
I’m passing on what I’ve been told
It’s not my car. Never been my car and have absolutely no financial interest in its sale just trying to help a mate in States
Do you something that I don’t?
I do not know about RS Porsches
Sure if someone does want it they will check everything beforehand
Notice you have have a replica RS so presume you are certainly know more than me.
Leave it at that !
