RENNSPORT CLASSICS OPEN DAY BETCHWORTH SURREY 31st OCT

Post by RENNSPORT CLASSICS »

I have arranged an open day on Saturday 31st Oct at my new premises at Betchworth Surrey from 8am to 12 noon which I have now opened to the public.

Refreshments will be provided, bacon butties and hot drinks.

I will demonstrate VIN-PRINT Forensic Technology for Identifying VINS and will scan cars FOC for those attending with Classic Porsches.

On display will be the most successful 2.7 Carrera RS of all time "AUI 1500" that I sold in 2018 and currently take care of, a 2.8 RSR backdate with Russell Lewis built 3.5 litre engine (he was Porsche technician of the year 1980/1981) and an original 1970 2.2S with 115K miles.

I hope to collect the completed shell of a 911T, modified to 2.8RSR specification and will be on hand to discuss future projects I am involved in, potential cars I know of that may be for sale but otherwise a morning to enjoy meeting like minded enthusiasts and talk Porsche. I have stories and experiences to recount a plenty to fill in any gaps in conversation with historical TV footage running.

Attendance by appointment only so please email me on enq@rennsportclassics.eu, ext or call 07774 911959 as I have to restrict numbers to be
COVID_19 compliant and please indicate when you would like to come as I may have to manage time slots to accommodate everyone that wants to attend.

Thanks Keith, I am sure I will be arranging other open days so don't feel disappointed there will be other opportunities in the future. Enjoy your day out.

We are open from 7am so for those that still want to come en-route to other events there is still time to drop by for breakfast. We are only 10 mins from Junction 8 of the M25. We do however have to close at 1pm sharp due to local byelaws so regrettably we won't be open all day to accommodate anyone later.

At least one significant Rennsport car will be here and not at Stowe, the only 1973 2.7 Carrera RS to have won three International Rallies outright in period, one of 17 RHD "Lightweights" and the last supplied. The 73 RS is a car that most people can relate to as at one time most people could have afforded to buy one and it most closely resembles cars many DDK members have created. Gaining more speed by adding lightness is exemplified in this Porsche production model of the 1970's. I will be discussing the car and it's restoration and showing some never seen before recent video footage of the driver, Cathal Curley, driving the "Healey Pass" a special stage on the Circuit Of Ireland he won in 1974. The footage shows him passing his arch rival, Adrian Boyd in the works Renault Alpine and Roger Clarke's MK II Escort in the process. Cathal beat 14 other RS's in 1974 and Roger Clarke in his MK I Escort in his last victory, the Manx International Rally in 1974.

Regards Mark.

PS. For all those that want to attend please use Private Messaging so I can confirm attendance and keep you informed of current Government Guidelines for Covid-19. We are classified as a retail premises so social distancing will be respected, sanitization for hands is provided on arrival and the wearing of facemasks will be mandatory. We have ample parking and outside areas some covered to congregate in groups of 6 to comply as required.

Hi Mark

Many thanks for yesterday's hospitality in your new premises. I really enjoyed the look around and sounds of the RSR. I also found the VIN-PRINT Forensic Technology fascinating and worth the cost if investing in an expensive classic. Good luck with the new site.
