The wiring was in a poor state. I am re-using the the connectors but have ordered new wires that I will splice to and use new terminals. The looms will be wrapped. I haven't got the replacement wire yet so that aspect hasn't been completed yet. One cover has been cleaned up, the other loom is being left alone as the model to copy whilst the other is deconstructed.

Wiring and covers...

The Light units have been straightened, filled and painted and look pretty good inside and out.

New lens gaskets are on order and drain tubes for the light units.

:bounce: Nice job on the lights !

- I'm doing my rear lights at the moment (fronts are OK), including repaired holes with metal-loaded epoxy and currently fabricating/experimenting making my own light diffusers similar to yours but I'm deviating from the original design by covering everything behind the clear part of the lense with very attractive polycarbonate diffuser sheet - I think it looks great - will reveal more soon. :cyclopsani:

Dont suppose you have a spare rear side panel do you - I need one to make a template for new cards? The ones that I just received turned out to be from a later Targa; the shape and position of the seat belt cutout is slightly different to our cars so they dont fit - I thought all F and G-model Targa side panels were the same except for dropping the fluted panel sections when they changed to G models - who knew!

Hi All, I have completed the front light refurbish except for the wiring where I am waiting for the wiring. As shown I have installed the old lenses which look OK.I have replacement ones that are pristine which I will leave boxed up until these are installed on the car.

These have the drains and new lens seals. They have been painted and are tidy. I am pleased with how they came out.
I am just awaiting the arrival of the wiring so that I can create new looms.

I thought I would add the last photo of the Front Light refurbishment.
I used wiring loom tape as I prefer it to using plastic sleeve. Nicer to look at, not original and less practical.

I have run out of things to refurbish - just got to wait for the bodyshell to be finished and be painted.....

Here are some more pictures of tidied up and plated/painted parts. All are ready to go back on the car once the bodywork and paint are finished.

Some more pictures:

Close-up of re-plated hardware. Please note that the Steering column has been modified to be RHD with the Ignition steering lock entering from the RHS - my car had been converted to RHD but not properly back in the late 70s when the care arrived in NZ.

I have an update on my car:
The dashboard cut from a much later 1980s 911 has been welded in and is looking good.
You may remember that my car was an original LHD that had been converted (poorly in the late 70s) to RHD. All of that prior 'bodgery' is now eradicated.

The sills are going to be welded in the next 2-3 weeks.

Following on from that the rear wings and final finish.

I believe we are (potentially) 4-6 weeks away from paint :)

I have just been to visit my car after the latest progress. I am quite pleased to see that the car is getting close to being ready for paint.

Looks great Neil, exciting seeing it all come together.

That bits under the roll hoop looks like a nightmare!
