Hi All
Time for an update, work, the cost of running a 997 as a ‘daily’ and a sick upholsterer (seats on hold for now), basically life, has got in the way of any real changes to my ‘rep’ but it has allowed me time to ‘pop’ along to a few local events…

So purely by chance I ended up flowing a rather lovely 356 (belonging to Irv of Irv’s Resto Shop) and ‘Bus’ into the Leighton Hall ‘Classic & Performance Motor Show last weekend
Image

Now I’m not real a fan of Concore awards (and most of the cars I’ve had have a ‘used’ look about them) but as the poor chap with the MC’s job (for the day) only had two cars in the class before ‘Kit Car & Modified’ I drove mine into the enclosure (unexpectedly) followed by a bunch of modified ‘moderns’ and a few other classic (one a simply stunning MK1 Escort with a 4x4 Cosworth Sapphire running gear)
And to cut a long story short, I won…

I say ‘I’, what I mean is Paul Foreman’s work won, but as I’ve never won anything I’ll be hanging on to the trophy.
The 356 also won its class, sadly the Bus’s ‘Rat Rod’ look was rather beyond the judges and the air cooled arrival convoy failed to score a hattrick.
That’s it for now, hopefully if anyone is attending ‘Wheels Up North’ this Sunday they’ll say “Hi”…

All the best
Ian F.

Winner! Paul’s work maybe but your initiative and your car, you made it happen.

Hi All
Time for a small update, while only a small detail it’s a very tactile one…
The ‘cheap & cheerful’ Beetle style gear knob has cracked (yes, I may be a little ham fisted) so its Roger Bray Restorations to the rescue with a rather smart Bakerlite 356 replacement.

After a little messing about with my Dad’s ‘Dremel’ and a helping hand with his ‘tap & die’ kit we (yes a 90 year old can climb in and out of a Spyder) managed to put a thread on the stick.
Colour wise it’s not a perfect match but it only helps with the whole ‘old racing’ car vibe of the car!

Hi All
Here’s my latest bit of fakery, as I’m sure you have read my car has a type I engine (that’s 546 ‘types’short of what the real thing has) and as I’m not likely to be buying a Fuhrmann four cam anytime soon (or ever) these seemed like a little bit of fun…
