If any of you are seriously in the market for a 968 I have a 968 sport (known to a few ddkers) that I would consider part exchanging for a 993.

Come to think of it, Lasham is probably the natural home for the 968.

Back in the day, my mate Paddy had his 1968 1500 beetle painted in the workshop there, where his Dad was a maintenance engineer. ‘Dan Air blue’ is almost identical to Riviera blue! Will see if I have a pic in the loft ...

Club Sport update..... so as I mentioned earlier, the one big problem I had with the car was how quiet it was! So time for a new exhaust and decided on a full Cargraphic system, one of the main reasons being that they do one deigned specifically for the 968, and although they are a German company the exhausts are actually made in the UK  I'd heard tell they were beautifully made, but have to say I didn't expect this!

Image

Comes in three main sections, the downpipe with the new 100 cpsi sports cat and oxygen sensor spigot, the pre-silencer twin pipe section and the rear box complete with skidplate/faring and it looks fabulous, and really pleased with the tailpipe. They normally come with a rolled edge look, but as they are made to order they did a special one with no roll to the lip...

Image

But was it going to sound as good as it looked? Picked it up on Friday and had the weekend to play and what a difference, can't believe it! The sound is perfect for me, gentle background burble at rest and idle but a great noise as it goes under load, just what I wanted. But the real upside I hadn't really considered was the performance benefit of the exhaust, feels much more lively, more responsive and really wants to rev more. I'm guessing a combination of the new free flowing sports cat and perhaps the weight saving, I've kept the old original exhaust sections to put away, couldn't believe how heavy they were.

Image

Shame this is all you see of it, but now I'm off to get some soot on that inner pipe...
cheers, Mike.

Love it, and sounds like a lucky find !! I parked close by at work and drooled over a purple one with orange wheels and lettering, for years - it was strangely attractive in those colours too, especially next to my all black 996.... enjoy!
