At least one of them, and I'm pretty sure the other too, fix onto the deck lid. Like so: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche- ... -what.html

Well on my 73 I don’t have any ground straps on either of the deck lid hinges

Is it a USA thing ?

My car is USA so possibly. Does yours have number plate lights in the deck lid? I'd imagine Prosche would have fitted an Earth if it did. One of the posts in that linked Pelican thread it said:
The straps ‘ground’ the deck lid to prevent Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) from the high-energy (and high frequency) Capacitive Discharge Ignition (CDI) system interfering with neighboring electronic devices.
In ‘earlier days’, your radio would pick up the rpm of a close-by car with an improperly shielded or malfunctioning ignition.

Number plates lights as they all have … sheathed wires going to them

Just a ping about my other technical questions from my Feb 13th post below if anyone can help with any of those details?

It looks like the engine lid hinge ground straps go to the engine lid mounting bolts for cars that have those straps, so that question is answered (thanks to those guys).

Thanks in advance! :cyclopsani:

I think the concertina'd rubber sleeve you showed goes on the speedo cable where it exits the tunnel to the rear of the car, to prevent moisture coming into the tunnel. Not certain, but what I can say is I removed one or more of those from the rear of my 1970 tunnel.

To the front, from memory the speedo cable on my LHD car comes out through a hole central in the bulkhead into the smuggler's box, which it shares with the something else (either air con wires or heater cable). It was an extremely tight fit to get the fixing nut through the hole - so tight in fact I had to take the other thing out of the hole to get it through.

I can probably get a photo of my CDI area if I remember next time I'm home.

I don't know how much use this is after this delay, and I think my year must be quite a bit different to yours but I finally remembered to take that photo.
