Not Deutschen, but an air-cooled Klassiker

Post by Hugo 356 »

Fired up the mighty Suffolk Super Colt for a few carbon monoxide soaked laps of the garden. I expect the neighbours are missing the early morning sound of air-cooled what with no car events this summer, so they're probably glad the silencer fell off a couple of years ago

Bought one of those 42 years ago 'restored' by a local garden equipment purveyor. (restored = fresh Humbrol brushed paint)
He proudly demonstrated the stripe it cut on his wet lawn, I paid over my £20 and was chuffed.

All was not well after many frustrating 'starts' and it went to the tip in favour of a new fangled Flymo.

I am now on my 2nd modern Honda, what a peach of a product, quiet too! :cyclopsani: (still have the Flymo)
Wife wants your dog.

Will you race it?

My Dad dug it out the back of his garage when we bought our house - he used to do gardening jobs in the evening with it to make a little extra money.

I change the oil every year and have changed the spark plug, but otherwise it's reliably been mowing the lawn for 15 years - impressive as the lawn is more like an off-road course than race track smooth.

Had to open up the case once when I haplessly dropped the dip-stick into the sump...

Brilliant! I'm sure that's quieter than mine, my ears are still ringing
