Mk1 GTi "Restomod"

Post by sng45 »

I saw this on eBay yesterday evening,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK1-Golf-Gti ... %7Ciid%3A1

235bhp / Mk 7 seats / Polo GTi dashboard / K& W's / fully rebuilt

I've had half a dozen Mk 1's before and thought this looked great, so I bought it this morning, it's being delivered on Friday !

just looking for a set of BBS wheels

That looks really nice and well put together, with the right parts and good people. Timeless icon and I’d like one. Had fun in a friends in the early 80’s and you never forget these moments.

Nice purchase.

Regards
Mike

My favourite car a mk1 campaign. I am going down the 2.0 16v route I think.

Thanks.

I drove it this afternoon for about 35 miles, it's on 235bhp with K&W suspension, seems very well engineered. So small and light ( compared to a modern) it absolutely flies, the guys who built it were working to create a Mk1 in the way VW would have done if they built it today and have done a great job.

I had some Mk1's in my twenties, a long time ago, but they were nothing like this !

Looks great!

Curious to see the polo dash. How did they solve the diabolical RHD brake pedal linkage issue?
