No different to importing a car from the USA. What's the problem?
Re: Importing vehicle from Canada.
Thanks Keith, no problem, just never done it before, if you have, who did you use, what to look out for anything that would help me from starting from scratch.

Re: Importing vehicle from Canada.
look no further than kingstown shipping. I have used them twice. Once for a WW2 jeep from texas and once for a 911 from los angeles. Super helpful, fantastic service and cheaper than you think. Am sure canada wont present a problem for them

As Dougie says, just call Mark Cowley at Kingstown Shipping. He'll handle everything - door to door, if necessary. I've used Kingstown six times to/from the USA with never a hitch.GP911 wrote:Thanks Keith, no problem, just never done it before, if you have, who did you use, what to look out for anything that would help me from starting from scratch.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Another +1 for Kingstown - great previous experience with them and assuming next purchase is USA car will definitely do again - just so easy!

Re: Importing vehicle from Canada.
I imported a split screen bus from Canada 10 years ago off thesamba website. Had been looking at vehicles from the states and had been quoted very reasonable prices for one stop shops where they do the lot. About 1500 gbp. But the one I fell for was Canadian. Barn find that had been last on the road in 1986 with a documented 32k on the clock. Paid for it assuming I'd get a similar deal on shipping from Canada. Not so, 3000 gbp was the best out there. Double the price. Ended up managing the whole thing myself. Cost me about 1900 gbp but it was an adventure. Thought I'd lost it on 2 occasions Well stressey, would recommend going the Kingston route (only ever heard positive comments about them) even if it looks pricey at first

Interesting. My daughter and her partner have gone over to Canada to work, travel, work travel and have bought a 76 Westie T2 and are doing a rolling resto, plan is to bring it home when they do, may be easier to drive it to the US and fly home from there.

Probably not as driving it across the border further complicates the issue. If they are in Canada they might get a good deal booking from that side of the pond. Plus when I did it the Canadian dollar was, about even with the usd 10 years ago. When I last looked 15 months ago you got a lot more cad for your gbp than usd.

Re: Importing vehicle from Canada.
Have looked out my old invoices from 2010. Looks like the whole thing cost me £2291 but that included road transport Winnipeg to Ontario over 1000 miles. Your daughter could drive it to the nearest port. The road haulage agent was a disaster but the people that handled the sea journey were brilliant and I'd trust them 100 percent. They went above and beyond when the trucker offloaded it at wrong place. They did lots of detective work to locate my split at no additional cost and then arranged to get it trailered to them. AAMCO shipping Ontario (905) 678 1373. Reinhard Kegel. Vehicle shipping specialist, rather than generalist. Without them I'd have been looking at a total loss due to rogue trucker. Even if you are not shipping out of Ontario they may well still be able to help. Continental Express Southend handled the unloading and documentation at this end. Trading since 1933 and again top grade service. Have noticed that the gbp exchange rate is still much better for cad 1.7 than usd 1.2 if you are paying from this end.
