Site migration and downtime 23/2/2020

Post by Bootsy »

After some database and capacity issues the forum has been migrated to a new server today

You’ve probably noticed it’s been down most of the day.

Still got some issues and emails and ad banners need to be sorted however the new server should be faster, More secure and with less issues

Hopefully!

Thanks for bearing with me

Cheers, been a bit time consuming but going forward it's the right thing to do.

Just installing a new adserver to serve the banners and hopefully we will be there

I have no idea what you've done, or are talking about, but thanks! I was starting to suffer cold turkey. :)

Let's say the previous server was running on twin Kadrons but I've fitted 48IDAs now

I don't think most of us realise just what's involved in keeping the forum working smoothly - & just how much we visit it until it's not accessible !!

Thanks for all of your 'behind the scenes' efforts Thomas ...

Very evident yesterday - a string of emails from some familiar and less familiar people - quite encouraging actually!

Nice one Tom.

Appreciate the time you put in.

Not the way you planned to spend Sunday I’m sure.

If any of you get an error message still it's probably serving up from the old server still whilst the new one propagates

Clear your cache and all should be fine.

Cheers
