Excellent. It gets my goat when traders try to sell cars as private cars with they aren't!KS wrote:It's been amended now to read as a trade sale.

No, no, no, you got it all wrong. Traders just borrow cars out of stock. Everyone knows that.Sam wrote:Traders do have / are allowed their own cars…

They are if they register the cars in their own name.Sam wrote:Traders do have / are allowed their own cars…

Ahh but, is the registered keeper necessarily the owner?

Re: Porsche for sale of the day..........
Long time ago that was the case?
The person in the log book is the legal owner; today the V5 states this may not be the case, so having a log book today only really gives the vehicle's details and the person who is using it, and who get the tickets for speeding, etc.
In the latter, the name on the V5 is the person who gets the fine, so presumably they have no link to the vehicle's owner, no authority has.
Very loose state of affairs as you cannot be sure if the actual owner consents to a sale?

They are indeed, but they can't register them to trade, avoiding a new keeper.Sam wrote:Traders do have / are allowed their own cars…
There have been several cars sold on CC that I've seen chaining a private sale and the seller is clearly a trader, trading!

Can’t they? Does it still say ‘the registered keeper is not the legal owner etc’ on the V5 still?gridgway wrote:They are indeed, but they can't register them to trade, avoiding a new keeper.Sam wrote:Traders do have / are allowed their own cars…

But I do agree. CC don’t seem too worried about accuracy on this point (and others), I guess it would take a lot of effort to fully vet everyone, they’ll just ask the seller. I wonder why they even show it, traditional auction houses don’t.

Re: Porsche for sale of the day..........
Worth bearing in mind that a trade sale is covered by consumer protection laws whereas a private sale isn’t. Call me cynical but traders do have a motivation to disguise themselves as private sellers.

Re: Porsche for sale of the day..........
Yes. Sorry. Thinking about it, CC isn’t a traditional auction house, they just charge a fee for putting a buyer and seller in touch, so you’re right, a trader selling on there would be bound by the consumer rights act and so on.

Plus £21,700 for the 2.4S engine, were they bought by the same buyer, did anyone spot?
