Thanks Chaps, its certainly a great car to get the opportunity to work on.

First coats of lacquer applied next

Image

Image

But because this will still leave a visible edge around the roundel (due to the height difference of the two colours) the lacquer is flatted back.

Image

Image

The shell is now re lacquered with the panels removed to allow us to seamlessly paint the shuts.

Image

Image

Image

Image

The edge of the roundel on the door that couldn’t be reached with the door fitted is painted white and the doors lacquered

Image

And the remaining parts painted

Image

Image

In another nod to the car’s previous history the lower section of the front bumper is painted Scarab Blue.

Image

The whole car is then flatted once more with 1500, 2000, 3000.

All clever stuff. Your work is tremendous Jon. I love the painted roundel idea.
Was there aver the idea to incorporate a painted number too?

Regards
Mike

The owner may put numbers on in Vinyl, so they can be removed if desired, painting them on would mean the whole car would need to be resprayed if he changed his mind!!

I suspect he will leave it without numbers though.

This car ticks just about every box for me and the work looks absolutely stunning. Hopefully it will make it over here at some point so we can lust over it properly!

And finally the flatted paint is polished back up using progressively finer compounds.

Image

And the panels hung again for safe keeping whilst the paint fully hardens.

And if the customer wants a change then we also painted the flat lid.

In amongst other ongoing projects.
