1965 oil pressure
Just had my new-old car delivered from Australia. Started her up and worryingly the orange warning light on the oil temerature/pressure gauge is staying on all the time, even when I rev the engine up to a pressure reading of 60 psi. The pressure gauge reads zero at idle (500 ish rpm) but I believe this to be quite normal for an early engine. It reads 20psi at 1000 rpm. All with a warm engine. Should I be worried, any advise please?
The car has Webbers instead of the original Solex and I don't seem to be able to find the cold start engine idling adjustable lever in the cabin that my 1971s had. Does the car have one?
What does the singe lever in the middle of the trans tunnel in front of the gearlever do?
On the lookout for an owners booklet!
Many thanks for any help.
Tim

Re: 1965 oil pressure
Hi, try putting the handbrake down and see if it goes out.

Eureka ! Handbrake warning light, on the oil Gauge = confusing.
Thanks Alan.
I have a perfect original USA 911s Owners Manual (with wiring diagram) to PX against a 1965 Manual, if anyone is interested.

Re: 1965 oil pressure
The lever in front of the gearchange is the heater control. The oil pressure readings are normal for an early car.
How about some pictures.

Re: 1965 oil pressure
Sure Ian,
The car has been mentioned on this forum previously. Originally sold in 1965 in Fulda, Germany to an Australian guy who was stationed at the barracks there. He did the European tour thing, including England and then had the car converted to RHD with Porsche parts, in Germany I think and in 1966 shipped the car to Oz (you were not allowed to have a LHD car in Oz in those days), where it stayed until last week! when I brought it home.
I have a file 2 inches thick of every single previous owner and various engine and body rebuilds/restorations over the years.
It spent a lot of its time in New South Wales and was owned by various long term owners there. We think it has been round the clock a couple of times. Currently running on Webbers.

Click! I know of that car.
Good to hear it's in the UK.

How about a bit of info and a few pics of your RHD car. What colour was it originally?
