a few of my baby "Banshee"
She's named after the banshee-saw-gone-mental sound she makes at 8,500 rpm.... and is an original, 1970 RHD UK-supplied, matching numbers 2.2S 911S with continuous history from new.
Subject to a complete body & mechanical resto in '99 by Roger Bray, complete with photos (which are scary!)
Recent engine rebuild & upgrade by Autofarm to period-correct, matching numbers Group 4 spec with 2.3 litre high comp, twin-plug 911ST engine featuring 2.3 litre pots, RSR sprint cams & hydraulic pressure-fed chain tensioners, Carillo rods, 906-spec 40mm fuel injection butterflies, factory competition R/ST/RSR 24 inch megaphones and SSI tuned headers, 930 turbo scavenge pump, original crankcase shuffle-pinned & boat-tailed, twin plugs are fitted but a 12 point dizzy is on the shopping list. Power output for the engine was quoted by the factory at 230bhp at 7,800rpm and 170 lb/ft torque at 6,200rpm
Next off the production line and sister car to Banshee was chassis 949, a psychedelic yellow/red Shell-liveried 911 ST homologation special driven to 3rd place by Gerard Laurousse on the '70 Tour de France and one of the lightest production 911's ever made.
Fortunate to also have the original owners' manual, logbook, period authorised service centre manual, sales brochures and workshop manuals
Period additions include: 911R 7 inch rears, 380mm RS steering wheel, Original RS Recaro leather sports seats, Blaupunkt 6-track cassette/radio (M421), Electric sunroof (M650) & windows (M651), tinted glass (M568), Heated rear window, rear wiper, and S trim.
Last 3 photos are from GT magazine features.
Next task will be a lowering job
Cheers,
Steve
