Here we are.

No doubt there will a few body/engine mount mods required,

but it would be great to have the first one in the UK.

From Dean Polopolus on the Turbo if you think it was made up

The latest project I am doing is a Polo to rival the power output of the ubiquitously popular crate V8, but in a package that weighs easily 1/4 of the amount and fits in the confines of a 356 Speedster. “I just finished a car, it was a ’58 Porsche A coupe with a special limited slip transaxle in it, geared to do 160 mph. The guys are letting me put a turbocharger on it, it’s going to be scary — 400-500 horsepower,”

Needs to keep up with Emory and his turbo version of the 4 cylinder mezger.

Wonder if RUF made their own crankcase / crank / cams / etc or whether they bought the Polo parts?

It’s a very fancy bit of kit under a stock looking shell

I'm pretty sure I read in one of the mags that Polopolus has supplied him with the crankcase kits

The polo engines are good but why not have a vw engine for about the same hp and a lot less money?

However you will still have a slow car?

Really? 200+bhp in a 356 shell? I would image that is far from slow

Most boxster's/ mx7 at a fraction of the price of the engine would dust it!

I've got a 986 Boxster S but think the 912 with a Polo will be the choice when I look out the window

Says the man who's never been in a quick Beetle... My street-legal Beetle produced 205bhp from its 2.1-litre motor, ran 12-second quarter miles on street tyres, timed 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and drove to Le Mans and back. ;)

Polopolus Engine in a 912

Post by Bruce M »

Could be wrong... but I think his (Emory) current 4cly-Mezger engines are built by Rothsport using their own parts (crankcase etc).

And you can’t buy them, unless part of a full car purchase / rebuild / “the works” / package.

But you haven't put a William Singer engine in it to out pace modern cars!
