DynaPlug. Was amazing how well it worked. Kit costs about £60ish on amazon, but compared with having to do the rest of the trip on a space saver, absolutely, totally worth the money.

You get 4 plugs and can buy more - they’re brass tipped and have a waxy wick behind them to plug the hole.

Bolt came out. Hiss of air, plug gets pushed in, sorted....

The original plan after Cortina was to head to Gmund , the birthplace. We’d worked out before we set off from the U.K. that we really couldnt fit everything in on the Sunday .

So, Gmund removed from the plan, we concentrated on the cross country driving with the main aim of hitting the famous Grossglockner

Our usual 9:30am start and we headed out of Cortina and onto some stunning roads . We did think it was slightly strange that people were standing at the roadsides in all the villages we passed through ... soon became apparent we were heading straight into a cycle race . H&S being so different in Italy, we were waved down and got out to watch.





We had a great run on from here, out of Italy and back into Austria



The roads towards the southern side of Grossglockner opened up nicely... bit of a close call with the police wound is back for all of 5 mins

So , the famous grossglockner Toll road ( and hill climb) , we were lucky that they’d only opened it a few days earlier. Traffic was light so we had a great run up. To be fair the Italian passes were more fun but the Grossglockner has the scale and the height. Even in May there were a fair few tourists and other car groups ( one lot from Norway )

Photos can’t really do it justice ... but by this point the day was moving on and we still had a fair way to go to get our next hotel, so we got on with the descending and getting ready to head over a few lower level passes to get to our Sunday night stop. Unfortunately whilst pressing on we had our next car issue ... mine this time



Lost the clutch pedal with a pop.. straight to the floor when changing to 4th .. so with no gears or drive managed to coast to a side road and pull off. Turned out the roll pin for the clutch pedal had worked itself completely out ( pedal box had been apart only a few weeks earlier for new bushes.. pin was genuine Porsche and as it was, once back home I checked and it had worked itself out again) ... lucky for me, 5 mins or so of drifting it back into place ( much to the amusement of a local family who were wondering what was going on in front of their garden ) and we could continue on to what would be a bargain hotel of the trip

I don’t know the pin setup but can you drill a hole across the end and put a split pin in?

Roll pin sits flush in the housing. Think I’m going to run a lock wire through it’s centre and wrap around the shaft( same as lock wire on bolts) ... although it should t really have moved at all as the original managed for 25years. These pins do have a habit of snapping with age though ( had the one on my 2.4s fail a few years ago)

Never driven anywhere like this. It was so utterly lovely. What a privilege...

I thought that was what all Euro garages used for punctures Johnny?

I've had two puncture repairs on the RSR while on euro trips both repaired with those.....good job too as no bugger would have had the tyres within 500 miles....

Probably worth having one of these Dynaplug or ebay ones in the glove box....!

Having stayed in a lovely hotel near Fugen we were ready to head north into Germany where we had arranged to meet another 2 ddkers who had been to the Porsche factory for a tour .



We were leaving the alps, but that didn’t mean the scenery was any less impressive. Our route took us through some German national parks that were stunning.



On our travels, pretty much every time we stopped , someone would come and speak to us all ... this time was no exception, except not often a RollsRoyce pulls up driven by a wealthy German and then 2 Russians jump out the back ! ... real nice group of guys and turned out one of them was a pro photographer. Now we’re not the most photogenic of guys , but he insisted on snapping some boyband style pics of us which turned out to be great as they’re the only photos we got of us all together:) a few others here are his too
