Ceramic Coating Exhaust on a 911.
Not being a fan of stainless exhausts and manifolds I have been contemplating having my tubular manifolds and exhaust box ceramic coated. The main claims for this type of coating are that it helps to reduce heat loss (and therefore reducing temperature around an engine) and are durable enough to prevent the onset of premature rusting of the above components. There appear to be two products: Ceracote and Zircotec. Has anyone (apart from 'Stretch') used either product and have any observations to make?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have an observation.
When you take your exhaust to be ceramic coated, tell them it's from a VW.
Don't, whatever you do, allow your mouth to form the word Porsche.
That's all I know.

Ive used Seracoat on turbos. It did get a bit flakey.I think curing is the key.I used Zircotec sheets to, to insulate around said turbo.I think professionally applied Ceramic is great. Not so sure "home applied" I understand the curing process,is complex and critical.

There was a thread on ceramic coating last year with some info that might be useful:

Have used Zircotec many times for both race and road cars with great results together with their full range of colours you can get good results without being to VW....
