Tyre size for a 76 narrow body
Hi I would like to fit 7x15 fiches to the rear of my 1976 narrow body 911. What is the max width tyre I can fit without rubbing. Thanks for your help.

Re: Tyre size for a 76 narrow body
I have 7" cookies on the front and rear of my 73 T, same body as yours.
Tyres are 195 x 65 x 15 and the suspension is 20mm lower than stock, all ok.
I must add that the rear wing lips are rolled.
Hope this helps.

these earier cars will handle better with a period 185/70 tyre than a 195/65

Re: Tyre size for a 76 narrow body
I used to race a 2.4E on 205x50 P Zero C on 7" Fuchs with no problem and some raced on 225x50 on the rear but probably rolled the arches. The cars were run low on 45mm ground clearance from what I remember. Not sure about the earlier comment on handling - it all depends on what you want and how you set it up. Racing on 70 profiles would not have been wonderful!

Hmm there is a difference between handling and grip.
Also there is a massive difference between what workss on a race track and what makes a good road tyre. So your race car would have been modified to make the extra grip a wider tyre will offer actually happen in the corners, by adusting your camber.
We do now offer the 205/50R15 P7 that the early 930 fitted on the front https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirell ... to-p7.html
But a 930 wouldn't have been as nice handling road car as a standard 911, however put it on a race track and it would wipe the floor.
