Hi, Given all the extra red tape created by IVA I thought I'd offer my VW beetle Karmann Cabriolet beetle rolling chassis for sale. It has a log book in my name and is referenced as a convertible - which make it an ideal candidate for forming the basis for a speedster build (as it's already logged as convertible.

I'm going to also offer this in the Karmann Cabriolet world but I do think it's a good option for any speedster builders/

Shortening the chassis for a Speedster build will lead to IVA anyway...

It’s useful if the speedster was created before Iva ;)

Wouldn't make a difference - the identity lies with the chassis number and if the chassis is being sold now in unmodified form, then said Speedster can't have been created before IVA...

So what you're suggesting is that using the paperwork of a Beetle, you shorten the chassis and fit a kit car body, tell nobody, then drive it and hope you don't have an accident, or get followed by a police car with an NPR camera installed... The days of trying to pull the wool over the eyes of officialdom are fast receding.

.
It's probably not a good idea to be having this discussion on an open forum under the 'Replicas' section ...

Having said that, it is important for people to realise that times have changed and don't go embarking on projects which will/may get them into trouble.

I'll post no more... ;)

I didn’t suggest anything I asked a simple question to which the answers are the worlds gonna end everyone’s gonna die.

To summise....

If you’re building a replica - Speedster / Coupe whatever

IVA it and don’t look for short cuts.

Plenty of IVA build threads on here paving the way
