Which heat exchangers?

Looking for replacement heat exchangers at the mo and wondering what the various options are like, dansk and jp group offer mild steel versions or max at revival has some nice looking stainless numbers, (maybe there are other options too?) anyone got any experience of the various types? What are your thoughts on fit, steel quality, heat output etc, feel free to pm me if you don’t want to go public.

What exhaust system do you have? The European or American type as heat exchangers will be different for each.
I’ve just fitted a Dansk Exhaust on my 912, and the fit was awful, trying to get anything to line up properly, but it was the only system available for the European system my 912 is fitted with. It was a real PITA to fit.

Mine is a US car and I have an oem leistritz exhaust waiting to go on after I get it coated. I’d heard the dansk exhausts were a poor fit but no idea if the heat exchangers have the same issues (I’m thinking due to construction there’s less scope for issues on heat exchangers).
My initial thoughts were to go for stainless from max, obviously a little bit more pricey than m/s so just trying to figure out which is best fit etc first.

Dansk ones for yours are around £187 + VAT (Design 911)
Max’s are £235 + VAT each, and Turbo Thomas Exhausts does a pair from £564.
Maybe you could pick up some decent second hand ones, and have them coated as well?
OR Pay the usual Porsche Tax for a European System.................this price is stupid!................£2,300.00

Timo, I have two Dansk brand new heat exchangers for US models in the box. I got them last October and restoration plans changed (of course!). I paid just over £200 each for them inc vat. I’ll sell for £300 for both if you’re interested.

Hi Adrian, it’s not a difficult job to do, just disconnect the cables and then unbolt the old ones and replace with new ones.

Did the heat exchangers trade hands? Just been under my car to fix an exhaust leak and its the heat exchangers and a hole in the exhaust!

Forget that. Looks like there is a different between 912 and 356 heat exchangers. I need the 356 ones

Thanks for your comments guys.
Replacing exhaust & heat exchangers an “easy” job.
Have everything but only 2 gaskets? 4 needed 2 for exhaust
and 2 for heat exchangers?
