Thanks everyone for your comments

Another difficult panel to let in without making it looking obvious, lots of flanges that have to be spot on & butt joints with zero gaps, there was a big hole roughly cut for aftermarket aircon..

A major update on the trunk area, loads of new metal added, a few pieces handmade, but mostly repair panels

Wondered what you have been doing for the last few days!
You need to clean the workshop now!!

Great progress; you will be done by the end of October. :)

Thanks Graham,

Yes it's been a busy week! & Christmas is the target for primer,

Re the workshop, unfortunately I'm very untidy & folks have to get used to that

Said tongue-in-cheek!
It is hard to keep things tidy at these stages, off-cuts from tin snips and clipped MIG wire bloody everywhere, usually found using the knee caps when working low....

Left hand footwell repair....

Wusty bit

Image

Having made the flange first allows me to use the original panel as pattern, so I can get the shape
The aim is to make all surfaces touch, before cutting the rusty section out

Tig welded in

Targa repair,

Wealy wusty....

Image

Inside/underside
Image

The outside guttering offered up for fitting

Image

Then cut out the old & in with the new..

Image

The underside was a lot more complex to repair, a multi bend section on an arc, checking the accuracy of old against new

Image

Once happy with the test piece I made length long enough to complete the repair

Image

And all welded in...

Fantastic!
That targa bar repair is great.
Do you have a shrinker to get the long curves?

Thanks Graham,

This was one of those make or break repairs for me on this car, I didn't know if I could successfully make those complex pieces & be happy with it, only alternative would be to find a good used one, as it happened it worked out ok.
Yeah I've got a shrinker & few other tools

Thanks mate

I hope my thread inspires diyers to boost their goals of restoration, all of my work is achieved through many screw ups, sleepless nights & lots of swearing, I've learnt no shortcuts

This little piece was just bashed out freestyle over any shape I thought might get me to where I needed to be, it's piece of the floor near the brake master cylinder

Image

Now this is quite a fiddly panel to make, could have been pressed, but way too effort for a one off, so made all the shapes & welded them in...

What part is that Martin?
My doors were very poor and took a lot to get them presentable, never use Dansk skins, but that was 28 years ago.
Maybe they are better now?

That panel goes under the rear cross member, slam panel, it just screws on, no structural benefit

my doors weren't too bad, didn't require reskinning luckily
