Sucker for a 928

Post by jonno1 »

Spotted this one languishing in pistonheads track day section for a pretty cheap price.

928 GT...so its a manual. Sunroof has been deleted and interior partly stripped. Currently with Chris Flavell at Fenn Lane Motorsport having some servicing and bits and bobs fixed and then a decision to be made regarding how I want it to look.....its a bit marmite as it is....some love it, some don't. I have always liked Marmite, never loved it or loathed it and thats what I feel about the current livery. I do fancy converting it back more to standard spec with touches of SE and CS about it. Phil from Tech 9 has a couple of cracking 928s which are certainly an inspiration as is the ex Derek Bell prototype CS. It will see some trackday action but also road use.

As it stands it has RUF Speedline wheels with bigger GTS callipers and discs, adjustable shocks and race springs. Rest of it is fairly standard.

This is the interior of one of Phil's...which I like.

And this is Derek Bell's:

So folks....top or bottom?

Was this the one built by Chris at GCR ?

If so was on my radar too - good buy I reckon.

Funny...thought more people would prefer it looking more standard rather than the Clubsport homage.

hey Jonathan, I too think the car looks great. If it were mine, think I'd replicate the red stripe without the GTRS logo.

be good to get our cars together some time

Thanks all - that would be good Phil.

Photo from photoshoot yesterday for Ultimate Porsche magazine - we were lucky with a short weather window to get some great shots (this one is mine, the photographers are way better!)

Short update.

Decision made - the red is going. Well, its gone. The RUF wheels are sold and some GT wheels found.

Spec as follows:

Sunroof delete
Lightweight carpet and headlining
Adjustable suspension
16” CS wheels
Continental tyres
Aircon delete
Rear wiper delete
Stereo delete
X-pipe exhaust
Bucket seats
Rear seat delete
Rear sun visor delete

Should be fun.

These seats will be the highlight....a nod to the earlier cars and in keeping with the black and white scheme.

Door card inserts will match.
