Paint ID code plate

Curious what type of rivets are used on these? I have one from Stoddard and the rivets are not something my std pop rivet gun can take?

I think they are Hammer Drive Screws.

I think Davep will be along to confirm that his evidence to date points to foil stickers for MY70 cars but as with all things Porsche there might be exceptions. The first exception is Karmann built cars, the second exception is it might not be all of the 70MY (August-July) cars, it might not be all T E and S models, it might not apply to all RHD cars and yours might have been changed in the past to a different type.
Anything is possible I suppose but most are foil.

It seems a little irrelevant to me to have an ID tag unless the details on it are are original. It is after all an “I.D.” tag along with the others.

Mike, good point but I can also see the relevance of what Dave said when you have a 'bitsa' car.

I have done a little searching and it appears that a company in Sweden do a plate that is better that the current offering from Porsche, but I was hoping that someone would have a good UK source?

I bought one from here. Haven't fitted it yet but it is good and Ake is a really nice guy. It come with four rivets with a screw thread.

Confused. Mine was Porsche built, 1970 model, shipped December 1969. Deffo riveted... And 99% certain original, judging by the original paint underneath and the neatness of the rivets.
Any ideas?

I checked my data, and did find that late in the year the Porsche built cars did revert to the riveted paint badge. I guess that the adhesive attached badges fell off quickly, and the factory dropped the idea.
