Ignition Advance Curve for 2.7RS

Post by MikeS911 »

Hi All.

Does anyone have a plot of the Ignition Advance Curve for the 73 RS2.7 Carrera Engine.

I have curves for the standard 2.7s but not the RS Engine.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks, regards

^. That is the RS curve alright, but it is far from optimal. When setup on a rolling road, I know of one that took another eight or nine degrees in the midrange. Different car.

I know this will come across as an advert but this is our experience...

An RS was fitted with one of our CDI+ units and run on the rolling road. Our units allow you to 'overlay' an electronic advance curve over the top of the mechanical advance of the distributor. You can also lock the distributor completely if you wish and go completely electronic.

It was found that the car would happily respond to more advance in the mid range with a noticeable increase in power without 'pinking'. At the top end, the advance was 'washed out' down to standard levels. Of course, this is impossible to do on a mechanical advance, because once the weights are thrown out, they are out!
