Hi,
I'm after some 7J & 9J x 16" replica Fuchs wheels. There appear to be a lot of options at a huge range of prices. Looking for the best quality wheels I can get but at a realistic price and I will be using them for some motorsport.
This rules out BRAID wheels, but there appear several options at near or below £1000 for the set.
Would appreciate any first hand experience anyone can share regarding quality, strength, finish, etc.

Design911 seem to offer a number of alternatives so keen to hear peoples experiences of them
First there are the '5343 style', £718.20/set +vat

'170 style', £1135 + vat with Continental tyres so probably fairly similar price to 5343 style without tyres.

Spoke design on both tyres is fairly similar and a bit angular. From looking at the pictures the spoke shape on the 5343 style wheels does very marginally look better then the 170 style ones.

They also sell a 548 style wheel at only £599+ vat for the set !

The spoke shape on the 548's looks marginally better then either the 170's or the 5343's but the 7s do look quite different to the 8s and 9s because of their different outer rim design.

They have a 4th type called Ultralite but these only appear to be available in 15". The spoke shape looks the best of the lot on these ones. Sods law they aren't available in 16"

Are these ones from Italy the same as one of the types from Design911 ? Price is a bit better but style looks similar to one of the tyres from Design911. The black colour in the bolt holes makes them look more like the 170 style wheels (?)

Are any of these wheels listed above the same as the Euromeister ones sold by Pelican, Automotion and Sierra Madre in the US ?

Does anyone know if the Euromeister ones have a dealer in UK/Europe ?

I went through the same process as you are now when I was looking for wheels. Prices now for a decent set of Fuchs for the GT now cost almost what I paid for my car!

I looked at every option and for what I'm using them for I went with the Euromeisters. My final decision was based on decent feedback from the US forums and because they're the best looking replica out there in my opinion. I'm yet to see direct evidence of a Euromeister failure.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a European dealer so had to get them from Ecklers in the US. They're always having sales and I picked up mine for nearly half price. However with shipping etc I think I ended up paying about £900 landed. Actually the woman I dealt with on the phone thought I was mad paying that much shipping, but at the time I thought I'd got a bargain - still do.

But, my uses are different to yours and if I was taking part in competitive racing I'm not sure I'd have made the same choice. I think I'd would have paid the extra for the Braids. After spending time in the pits at many a classic event it's obvious Braids are the number one choice. I've also had a good look over the Braids too and they are a very nice wheel, and clearly better quality than the Euromeisters - You get what you pay for.

Type 911 have these, they're well rated as far as I am aware.

Hi Stephen, on the same basis I think I'd go with the Euromeister ones.
The Euromeister ones claim to be imported, so I'd be surprised if someone wasn't selling them in Europe ?

Does anyone know anywhere that sells the Euromeister ones in Europe ?

Very curious if anyone has had 1st hand experience of the various ones sold by Design911 or the ones on the ebay link on my post.

Presumably these are similar too one of the types sold by Design911 ?
Not looking to get from Design 911 as a preference, just curious to know which ones they are equivalent to for a price comparison.

I almost went with the Maxlites but the edges of the petals on the 7's were a lot sharper than the originals and just didn't look right to me.

The MAXILITE ones look very similar in terms of spoke shape and edge design to the 5343 style ones Design911 sell, so thought they might be the same, but just noticed that the centre cap mounting edge detail is different.

If the ones mention available in Europe then the Maxilites look very marginally the best I think but the Euromeisters I think look a fraction better again because of the spoke shape. The fact they have sold so many also helps in terms of reputation. If only someone in Europe sold them.

if you get sent through any offers for the Euromeisters that put them at the price point you paid then do let me know and I might go for that. At the price point you got them for landed with taxes paid then they compare favourably wit the Maxilite ones and look fractionally better as you say.

I'm still holding out for a good price on some 16" Fuchs or some replicas from Euromeister or Maxilite.

No immediate hurry as they are to go on my 914/6GT once the engine has been changed to the new 2.8 twin plug, but just looking for the best deal I can find in the time available.

Maxilites do a 23mm offset 8x15 for the front of a 911 which I might consider to go with the 9x16s rather then some 7x16s if I went the Maxilite route.
I've checked out the official Maxilite website and they seem the best prices I've found. Does anyone know anywhere that will sell full sets of the Maxilites at anything less then full retail price ?

Still haven't found anywhere that sell the Euomeisters in Europe. Automotion sell a full set of 7s & 9s for $725. Pelicam at $800 so price is very competitive. However because postage is about $250 plus VAT, Duty and import fees it comes to about £930 landed in the UK !

Maxilite on their official website for 1300Euro with the 23mm offset 8s & 9s OR 1110Euro for 7s & 9s + 71.40Euro for shipping. About £1160 and £990 respectively.

Interesting I've noticed that Maxilites are even lighter than Fuchs originals by about 0.7 or 0.8kg per wheel !

If anyone else is after a set of Maxilites in the next week or so then get in contact by PM.
