This is a RHD 1984 Porsche 911 3.2 SPORT Targa PROJECT in Black, with Grey Beige Letterette (Leather seat inleys). It is a matching number car with a very good body.

It will need full paint, along with electrical work, engine work, and general recommissioning, but no welding (as far as we can see). The body is straight, with no hidden accident damge, and only minimal surface rust in a few places. The kindey bowls and front wings are very good, two of the most common areas to need work.

We are told by the previous owner, that the engine and gearbox was fully rebuilt 10,000 miles ago. It looks to be fitted with 964 3.6 barrels, and pistons, with solex cams, but we have not yet fully id'd the set up, but we estimate the horsepower of the engine to be in the 275 to 325 BHP range when running. We have noticed the Nikasil coating of the cylinders is showing some wear, and also noticed the engine has been built to tight tolerances (deck height, piston to valve, etc) and while the engine will certainly to run as it is (if built back up as it is), the right thing to do is to fully strip the top end, examine the set up and build it back up accordingly with a specific compression ratio in mind. We have noted that oversize (1 tooth bigger) chain idler sprockets (available in the US at $300 each) would be advisable, OR the cylinders shimmed (but watch deck height, currently 0.035"), OR the engine detuned to 3.4 with taller cylinders, as the chains are ever so slightly long, resulting in the tensioners near their maximum.

It was written off as a Category C following an engine fire back in 2011, when these cars were not worth anything like what they are today. The fire damaged the wiring loom, and the owner stripped down the left side of the top end, as the fire had started somewhere near the left carburetor (which in retrospect was unnecessary, but good to check of course). The physical damage was minimal to the car, but it will require engine bay rewiring, new custom ignition system, paint of the rear body (as a minimum, the car needs full paint), and building the engine back up.

We bought to car to compete in hillclimbs, as being a targa with a strong body (and factory strengthened sills), and its highly tuned engine, it would be ideal for motorsport with a permanent roof fitted (i.e converted to coupe).

The mileage of the car is unknown, while there is plenty of service history from Porsche specialists (Bob Watson, RS Naylor), the mileage is only indicated on the Bob Watson invoices, with the odometer showing approximately 10,000 (it was reset to 00000 following the engine and gearbox rebuild. We did press the long term owner on the matter, who had the engine and box rebuilt, with the mileage reset to 00000 at this time, but we have documented proof of him stating he simply can't remember what it was prior to the resetting.

With our specialist Air Cooled Porsche 911 labour rate being just £40 per hour, we are understandable very busy with customer work, and the car has always been on the back burner as customer work always takes the highest priority.

We are more than happy to undertake any work you require for this car, from engine and electrical rewiring, to full paint, and road or track set up, with a full warrantly provided any parts we deem necessary are fitted, and all labour is at £40 per hr.

The car is sold otherwise, as it, as a restoration project on a spares or repairs basis.

We are more than happy to take any of the following in part exchange INCLUDING future work on the car should you choose it.
