bjmullan wrote:Back from a interesting day at Doune. Great to see Jonathan after 3/4 years and meet Laura as well and of course Margaret. My second time at the event, I think the last time was in the mid 80's.

Here's a clue to the day to start off....

   I Have only just looked at this picture properly on my laptop Brendan....surely I didn't cause all of that  they must have been using material from the Poundshop

Had a fabby weekend even after my little incident on my first run at Doune. The East Brae Hill (i think that is what is called) is very deceiving even after I walked the course and Jock Ramsay kindly took me on a drive talking me through everything.

Glad I was still able to take part once Brendan pulled my wing from my tyre using 2 scissor jacks. I managed to get my best time of 64.42 seconds today.
Jonathan (JWHillracer) very kindly gave Kit a new look by taping up where the headlamp used to be and caught him nicely with his ink marker applying a lovely smiley face. Sorry I didn't get the chance to say goodbye, I was rushing to get the car home before it got dark.

Looking forward to next year already and you never know Jonathan I may just see you at one of the Hill Climbs down South next year, your co-driver Laura is very inspirational and given me some events to think about.

Hard luck with the damage, and excellent commitment for taping it up and carrying on!
I went straight off on my first run at a Harewood, despite walking the course first, luckily I only had a field to hit!

Kudos to you Margaret - & to improve by 10 sec on your final run was just reward.

We didn't get back home until late last night. What a fabulous weekend! Great to meet Margaret, Tom and Brendan again, sorry I missed Raymond (Boydyrs)
Margaret was the most laid back I have EVER seen anyone after smacking their car.... Straight back in and going for it on the next run! :bounce: :bounce:
Unfortunately Laura, sharing our car, was usually at the end of the batch that Margaret was in, so I didn't get a chance to see Margaret go until the last run. Here's her start - https://youtu.be/lXzuBIrR6lg
Her times for the competition runs were brilliant for a roadgoing 911, 64.42 and 65.23.
When she came back down the hill there were 2 smiley faces in Kit!

Just caught up with this Margaret, Brendan told me about your off - a clear sign you were trying hard! And then going harder on the next runs, awesome stuff. Good luck with the minor repairs :-)

Looks like a great day, I will get to Doune sometime, there's been too much going on this year though.

Just love Margaret's gearchanges. I noticed it at Bo'ness too. Unruffled, unhurried, precise and back on the power without any drama. Car sounds great. I'm sure she saves a second or two in every run with such creamy smoothness.

Regards
Mike

Jonathan, even better in Northern Ireland, as same safety rules as GB (higher spec suits and fire extinguishers needed in Eire) and cheaper entries. Cairncastle is the longest hill in the U.K. At 1.7 miles and really suits Porsches. They now run two events back to back on a Friday/Saturday in June so a great weekend's motorsport, quite a few Scots guys come over for it

It's run by the Larne Motor Club and the ferry from Cairnryan is only 5 miles away !
Cheers
