Good early 911 garage (London/ West London)

Post by neunelfer »

Hi,

Since Chris Turner has so sadly passed away, he is already very much missed on many fronts....

Has anybody had good experience with a garage in Central/West London for 1970 ish 911? E.g. any experience with no5garage?

Many thanks Ulrich

Difficult if you want good . I always used Jaz in Wembley , they moved out to St Albans , so I now take my cars there , get train to collect /return . Steve Winter is excellent on early 911s , he races one , looks after a few for other people . I am now a 356 man which is even trickier to find a good garage for , he does those too !

+1 for Steve at Jaz

I have used no5 garage on occasion as they are very close to me and found them ok. Convenient but I still go to Jaz.

Nos 5 garage were brilliant with mine, Chris's T put me onto them years ago and they did a full rebuild of the engine/gearbox. Brilliant. They also did the brakes etc and Chris's reckoned they were the best he'd driven ( and for me they had to be) Can't remember the name of the guy now but can look it up of you'd like. A German guy ran it and he had an old school mechanic who literally took my engine home with him and cleaned it in the bath.
former owner, still hoping to be reunited with my STOLEN 1972 911T/E 2.4 . Keep looking guys

Over the many years that I was going up to Chris Turners garage I saw a lot of cars that he was servicing.
Where are those people going now?

One of these maybe?
No 5 garage chiswick
RGA in vauxhall
Tower near tower bridge
Charles Ivey fulham
Are there others to consider?
Jaz st albans
GT one chertsey
Any others?

I know many people do very little milage in their cars and perhaps have little need for servicing but I do quite a lot of miles and would like to find an alternative to hiking out to Banbury to get things done.

Any input good or bad would be welcomed.
Where people go would be good.
Where they won't go again would also be good.

Jaz have looked after my '71 911 for over 20 years. Look no further.
Steve Winter really knows his stuff on early cars and St Albans is quite accessible by car and train (Thameslink).
Cheers,
Phil.

Tognola Engineering in Datchet? A couple of minutes walk from the station. He runs/races an early 911 himself.
