1966 911

Post by jonno1 »

After 3 years of ownership my 1966 911 is back on the road. After a full restoration by Chris Flavell (fetuhoe on here) and team at Fenn Lane Motorsport I am over the moon with the end result which is a testament to Chris and co's encyclopaedic knowledge and experience, integrity and workmanship.

The car started out as a pretty tired old rally car:

And my original intention was just to have the engine rebuilt and have some fun in it, but it soon became one of those "while you're in there" jobs as it became apparent that pretty much every part of the car was worn out/dangerous/knackered or all of the above.

The car is an original light ivory California car, then went to Finland where it was converted to a rally car and then to Wales where it was rallied for a few seasons by Terry Brown.

The inspiration comes from various sources - the 911R, the lovely FIA cars I saw at Goodwood and various other sports purpose cars including a few on here! A nod to originality and correctness, but that was not the driver for it all.

I hope you like it. I bloody love it. And again, HUGE thanks to Fenn Lane Motorsport - the car benefits from numerous Fenn Lane made parts and modifications.

Looks beautiful and light ivory is such a great early colour.
The work looks fab and she sits just perfectly.

If you would like the correct headlights and smooth backed bonnet badge to finish the job off let me know.

Looks like you are going to have years of fun. Wish you many happy miles.

Regards
Mike

Very cool car 8) .

Looks very 'sports purpose' - just not as extreme as before (and all the better for it!)

Enjoy.

Nice looking car. One small detail, that so often gets missed, is that the inside of the doors should be edged in satin black so that body colour is not visible inside the car with the doors shut.

Fenn Lane have produced a super result for you, your car looks fab. I'm sure it's a super feeling having her back with everything done and done properly, the paintwork particularly appears very good. I assume they painted your car? Liked it as a rally car, like it more in the original colour scheme, enjoy the summer.
