Engine bay fuse board mounting

Post by rft218 »

Hi All,

I am struggling with the mounting position for the engine bay fuse board and fuel filter. When I position the fuse board the holes in the inner rear wing are nowhere near where I am expecting, and the fuel filter holes dont look right.

From what I can make out the fuse board is correct. I am wondering if in the cars distant past it has had a rear inner wing that was different to what it should have. There are also some mounting points forward of the filter points which I dont know what they are for.

Any ideas gratefully received,

Thanks

The mounting 'bobbin' you have in the upper right hole is in the wrong place - it should be in the slotted hole just above the regulator I think. (been a while since I put mine in)
That top right hole is for the top of the CDI box.

If you change it over it should fit the holes in the inner wing by the looks of it.

The fuel filter mountings look OK as well from what I can remember. The stud welded to the inner wing in front of them needs to be cleaned carefully of paint as it is a main earth connection point.

(Pic already sent to Roger and we have discussed briefly, but in case it helps others solve the problem):

Here's the same area of the rear inner wing in my 1970 shell. Mounting points seem different?
Could be that mine is wrong, of course.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the reply. You are correct the bobbin should be in the slotted hole but that doesnt line up either!

Looking at Richards car mine looks very different,

Cheers

The orange car is 69 MY ( it has the CDI box brackets) but the fuse panel is later.

Roger, can you confirm what car you have? I take it it's the orange one above?

Forgive me, but are you DIY'ing? If so I'd be happy to sort out for you. Richard's car has gone, but has been replaced with another 2.2. I also have templates of course.
