Re: 1967 912 Restoration
So i collected it a few weeks ago, and I've pretty much been getting it ready to go back to enviro-strip so they can completely clean the shell again, and prime it, then its ready for prep and paint. While its away again, ill be sorting through all the suspension and running gear, to paint/powdercoat ready to go back on. Heres how it stands now.
And off it goes, back to Enviro-Strip
And Playing with wheels before it went
Managed to get hold of another set of Genuine Fuchs and a NOS American Racing Torque to go with my set.
And thats how it stands now, hope to get it back in the next few weeks and off to paint before xmas.

Really nice work there.
Does anyone know if Porsche AG still presses their own replacement classic panels (like those used here) or buys them in from suppliers? Just wondering. John

Re: 1967 912 Resto *updated*
Received the car back from envirostrip yesterday. Very pleased with the results.
It’s been stripped again, de rusted to be sure none of the bare panels had started rusting while the work was being carried out and sealed in novol primer.
I started hanging a few panels last night, to check the gaps etc. Going to get everything lined up and any trim holes needed, drilled before paint.
Also managed to get the correct swb decklid thanks to karmann konnection while the car was away.
Offered my wheels up

Too true!
Are those thrusts really magnesium?
If so, I suggest you have them crack tested before using them as true mag wheels are not the best at lasting for a long time.
I say this from personal experience on my race car (English Dymag wheels, made in the mid 70s)
I know a professional repair man if you need one who
I know does a good job with cracks...
Hope this helps.
Graham.

Re: 1967 912 Resto *updated*
Thanks guys.
Yeah they’re original magnesium. I’ve had a few sets of mags in the past, bbs and ronal. Also very lucky to have a company local to me that specialises in the repair of alloy and magnesium wheels, they actually repaired one from this set that was cracked.
But you’re right, I’ll be getting them xrayed for any invisible cracks, even the new old stock one I have.
I’ve got the fuchs as I’ll more than likely use them most of the time and keep the mags for show use.
