So yesterday i took delivery of the 912 from envirostrip. Got to say I'm really pleased with how its come out....

There were a few spots on the floors, parcel shelf, and some old repairs i already knew about that would need sorting, but no nasty surprises and its come back better than id imagined it would.

Heres a few pics......

And 2 bits of what looks like old lead, above the B pillars, identical both sides, so I'm assuming its a factory thing?

Easy job from what the pics show.
Those lead ed areas are factory where the rear wind panel is welded and then filled for paint.
Nice big garage too!

Cheers guys, I'm very pleased with it. Just costing up the panels, any recommendations on suppliers in the uk and manufacturers? Obviously there are genuine panels available, but is it worth it for things like floors etc?

It's had a poor repair on one rear quarter which I want to rectify, they've managed to get the panels gaps good but the join is terrible, so I'm tempted to replace the quarter.

I was planning on doing the metal work between me and my mate which we normally do, but I just don't think I will beable to get the standard that I want by doing it myself, so I think the metal work is going to be done by a professional.

As for the price, your probably best off speaking direct to envirostrip for a price, I managed to get it trade through a mate, so not sure what they would normally charge.

Cheers. Looks like I'll be ordering most of the panels from restoration design. Got everything I need and really well priced, been told they are excellent quality and fit too.

just out of interest (i dont know much about 912's), do they not utilise the sill mounted hot air ducting found in the 911?

The reason i ask is in the post envirostrip photo, i see your sills are uncut and before i sent my 911 to envirostrip, mine had to be cut off and the tubes in the sill removed as the stripping chemicals destroy the cardboard the tubes are made from.

Finding myself increasingly drawn to these early 912's.... looking forward to seeing more progress on the resto.

Yes they still use the ducting through the sill, but it's all steel in a swb

So a few weekends ago we got around to putting some primer on, just as some temporary protection while we carry out the metal work....

Image

You can just see the badly repaired rear quarter in this picture, been thinking about the best way to sort it it, Full quarter replacement, or replacing the terrible joins with smaller sections.
Image

Other than the quarter, it looks really straight with a bit of paint....
Image

Image

So the floors weren't too bad, but they weren't great, so i decided rather than trying to repair what was there, id do the lot for a better quality, seamless repair, so started cutting out ready and offered up the new panels.....
Oh it also makes the job a hell of a lot easier, flipping it upside down on the spit

Image

Needs a few adjustments, but nothing major, think its mainly due to where the cars been jacked up over the years and miss shaped the chassis rail ,so that will be sorted aswell.
