R.I.P Steve Hewlett

Very sad to hear the death of Steve.

He broadcast a series of interviews on radio 4 over the last few months detailing his ways of coping with his terminal diagnosis and the subsequent treatment, hopes and fears as his treatment progressed.

Indeed. Despite listening over the last few weeks, Eddie Mair announcing Steve's death this evening came as a shock.

The 'edited highlights' were very moving and reminded me of John Diamond reporting on his own demise. Such is the lot of a journalist.

I think the recorded conversations between Eddie Mair and Steve Hewlett have helped many people who have found themselves in similar situations.

RIP.

It was a real shock to hear this news after listening to him over the past few months and even upto last week. He was always upbeat and optimistic as well as being pragmatic about his condition which I found very admirable.

RIP Steve

Me too. There was something really unique about those Monday broadcasts, somehow comforting and dreadful at the same time..a sad loss.

Life can be unfair and at 58 he had so much more to offer. I too, listened to those reports with Eddie and he seemed to accept things in such a brave way. A real loss.

A humbling and insightful series of broadcasts. I caught many of them in the car on my tiny commute home. There's not much that keeps me sitting in the car on the drive once home, but without fail, these did. Shocking how quickly the end came around.

A wonderful journalist and broadcaster, and very sad news indeed.
