964 interior musings

Post by Sam »

Oh hai,

My 964 is diamond blue, like this one:

Image

It's actually more greyish-violet than blue.

The interior is all blue; carpets, dash, seats, doors. The seats have white piping, like this one:

Image

It's OK, but the seats are 26 years and 110k miles old so shiny and creased and it's a little bit somber compared to some.

I'm therefore thinking of retrimming the seats to funk it up a bit but keeping the carpets, dash and side panels blue for budget reasons.

None of the 1991 materials are any fun, but I'd like to keep it fairly OG so I'm thinking of keeping blue leather on the bolsters and headrests then going for an earlier material in the centres.

The question is, what?

Red and blue Schottenkaro?

Image

Blue and green?

Image

Madras? (hello Gary!)

Image

Pepita? (hello Gary!)

Image

Blue Pasha?

Image

Any other ideas?

... unless you can go all magenta ;) .... I'd opt for the wonderful blue/green tartan. Always loved that. Almost bought some 73 recaros of russell harris that had been trimmed with that cloth

Mine's midnight blue and did have that weird '90s tartan cloth but it was retrimmed in blue leather and alcantara before I bought it. The dash and carpet colour scheme is just like that pic. It also has those tiny bits of purple leatherette on the seat hinges. I wish the whole thing had been retrimmed in that. It would look amazing against diamond blue. 8)

I reckon you should keep it original maybe have the seats reconnolized and get yourself a 4-spoke steering wheel.
Otherwise maybe store the seats and get some Pole position seats and trim with the RS style triple colour leather.
Would be a shame to ruin an original interior.

Hmmm. Point taken, but it's not a minty fresh original interior, it's tired.

But also - how did you know it has a 3 spoke wheel? Do I just come across as that sort of chap?

Hi, incase it helps and you went for the early madras materials, we had each of the 3 colours re-made. We are currently re-trimming a pair of front seats with the Red Madras and can send pics if that helps?

Thanks

Red's the least likely option for me but I'd be interested to see nonetheless.

The blue/white Madras w blue leather is the one, for that exterior colour.
+/- matching targa lining like Mick did!
Blue Pascha would be fun but feels too self consciously retro for an externally stock 964.
