Stunning shell in a great colour! I would keep it in my living room as it is if I could.

I'm not sure I could get away with sticking the 911 in there now ...
Although I do have permission to find a 60s cafe racer I can hang off the wall !

Re: Tangerine 911T restored at home on a very tight budget !
Been a while , but still making progress if a little slow
Started assembling running gear last week but rain, work , kids etc etc distracting me
Anyway got a couple of big lumps back on easy enough but as always there's a clip bolt bracket missing so I'm waiting for parts at the opc
Here are a cpl ckonly.com[/url]
Anyway as I was getting rained off and waiting for parts I thought I'd try and do something with my knackered dashtop which had about 15 cracks in it and I'd been advised that I should really just chuck it in the skip .. my problem was that I'd collected a couple of other dashtop since buying my car ,but this old cracked one was the one that fitted the best despite being cracked
I took my power file and opened the cracks up so they were about a half inch wide ,then gently prised the foam from under the vinyl covering so I could use some epoxy or similar to consolidate things
Here's how it started

I gouged out the foam under all of the cracks in the same fashion , then using flexible plastic bumper filler applied an amount that I intended to shape to the original profile .. this would also allow me to correct the deformed bit over the instruments
Along the way I kept finding the odd additional crack too ,,so out came the power file again until I had the whole dash in filler

I then took the plunge with my German vinyl acquired from Garry Hall ,, and having been advised to do the dash cover in two parts with a joint due to the difficulties getting the vinyl to stretch and keeping it stuck to the dash I decided to give it a go
Never really done this before (other than flat door cards etc),,,,,, so here rl]

These last few pics show a wet joint that I made with a pu adhesive ,, I'm hoping when it dries that it'll matt down a little but I'm not messing with it until tomorrow

Like the door top rails...they seem to have stretched nicely around the difficult end profiles....did you glue the vinyl along the long edges and then stretch across the end faces at the end....did you use much heat to get the vinyl to stretch and even to shrink...?

that dash looks superb .. so many in the past have said a cracked dash can't be restored , but that prives otherwise . Very cool

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks
I was trying to make sure that my workmanship didn't look rubbish next to Garrys (visualfx)
Hopefully it'll all blend seamlessly together
