Tangerine 911T restored at home ,,,budget out of the window

Post by tangerineT »

Hello all ,,

I've had my 911t for about four years and struggled to get started on it ,,well you all know how it goes,,family kids ,,move house ,rebuild house etc etc

Here she is with the previous owner , some of you may know the car ,,it was in Bristol area

I'll upload some pics of my progress,,just hoping I've worked out the correct procedure for photobucket

Apologies in advance but I probably won't upload hundreds of pics but I know how you lot like the porsche porn so I'll try my best

Previous owner had decided to do a rebuild so he started to dismantle it in readiness but never completed the car

I got quite a few boxes of bits though ,,,,just need to work out where it all should fit ,!!?? :(

Hi Jonathan and all you ddk'ers

Sorry I did forget to introduce myself ..I was so pee'd off trying to work out how to upload images I must've forgotten

Anyway Jonathan i see you are restoring an e type too! We must be living parallel lives as I've a 65 coupe in bits ..in fact I'd be working on that if this porsche wasn't sponging all the money out of my pocket !

I'll try and upload some more pics ,,, but the first lot will be ones of what NOT to do when you first get a new porsche project !

I had a major fxxk up and trusted someone to do some work.......I cried ,,you lot will too!

Will load the pics tonight if not this afternoon

Thanks guys

Anyway I lost loads of pics when my laptop crashed !

I'd taken lots so I could be sure about putting the car back together but not being very pc savvy hadn't saved them anywhere so they're lost forever

I might need some advice like "where's this bit go?"

Didn't help that I bought a car already partially stripped so there were always going to be missing parts and lots of questions,,,but a knackered pc hasn't helped

Let me introduce the car properly ,,,,,she's a 71 911T 2.2,,,original colour 2323 tangerine , matching number car and from texas...what could possibly go wrong?

Well I'll tell ya ! I stripped the car but noticed some filler on the rh inner wing ,,,I hadn't noticed that when I went to buy the car so I poked at it like you do ,,,,,front part of inner wing had been changed in usa ! Then I looked around better as a bare shell is easier to inspect than a complete one

Front end was rustier than I thought ,suspension pan and front partition panel scruffy at the bottom ,,,but that's no problem I thought,,got welder will weld it !

The floors and sills looked great , just the odd bit to fix ie under pedals ,,rear seat pans horrible in the bottom , rear parcel shelf too ,,but pretty much an easy project if that front inner wing wasn't a sign that the car could be twisted or bent !

It couldn't be ,,,could it ??!!!

Hi Matthew

Welcome to ddk. I'm sure you will get all the help you need here. The shell looks pretty nice and you can't beat a bit of tangerine. The colour looks 'just right' in those photos.

Regards
Mike
