The rear shelf is made by DANSK. The garage has managed to 'let' the shelf in by keeping the original welds and tabs etc. I am super pleased with the result.

Moving to the underside, the floor is very solid indeed but in need of staightening and correctly finishing.

Any advice on the finishes for the underside are well received.

From my research it seems that Upol Gravitex in white (with a tint to add a bit of grey) will replicate the factory underseal

Fortunately i have a number of areas of orginal material as reference to create the correct colour. Also lots of ref pics for overspray pattern etc so should be able to get that nice factory look..

....not seen that before, will be interesting to see how it turns out as I've never seen an underseal of the correct colour.

Here's a 72 T we painted to a factory spec.....

The guys have made a great job of the car.

Having removed any loose or flaking original undercoating, the whole area was covered in UPOL Gravitex (recommended on the other forums since Wurth stopped doing their version - said to actually be made by UPOL). Gravitex is produced in Grey, Black and White. The bodyshop mixed 90% white with 10% grey to get an accurate representation of the original coating (easily done since it was still present).

The aim will be to try to recreate factory 'overspray areas' under the arches and on the sills etc.

The garage is making great progress.

They are adding a very light skim of modern filler..most of it will be removed when block sanded.

They have managed to retain all the crisp edges and spotwelds etc and panel alignment is spot on

The original soundproofing was a bit brittle and lifting very easily. So i decided to have the whole thing removed and to ensure that no rust etc was present.

Its interesting to see that the cars appear to have been painted black on the entire floor...fortunately no rust..just a beautifully original floor

Could anyone advise on how the rear quarter meets the B post? I can see the clear join but at what point does the joint get blended into the panel (if at all?)

Thanks

Looking good. Have you got any photos of the colour matched Gravitex to the original underbody seal? Very interested in seeing how close it is as i've been searching google high and low for a formula to get an accurate match.

The body shop mixed grey and white Upol Gravitex in around 90% white with 10% grey to get a nice finish. You can see the comparison to the original finishes on the well preserved battery boxes aginst plain white and grey. The finish is very matt and I have decided to add a layer of semi gloss clear coat over the top of the gravitex to make it easier to clean. I have a sample of this and it looks awesome. Overall I am very pleased with the outcome
