I drove back from holiday via Stow on the Wold and traffic was queuing to get back into it so I don't think that is a good starting spot.

Therefore I'm going to suggest a layby just past Moreton-In-Marsh. It at the junction of Fosse Way (A429) and Roman Road. Link before.
